Chateau Pibran 2016
Chateau Pibran began in 1941 when Paul Pibran Billa purchased the Property and renamed it. The estate is very new compared to most of its neighbors in Pauillac. In 1987, AXA Group purchased the property and immediately began investing lots of money in the estate. They replanted vineyards, constructed new cellars and renovated the Chateau. They also purchased an adjoining property, Chateau La Tour Pibran and incorporated the vineyards.
The 17 hectare vineyard of Chateau Pibran is planted to 54% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1% Petit Verdot. With that much Merlot planted in their vineyards, Chateau Pibran has perhaps the largest percentage of Merlot in Pauillac.
The AXA Group currently owns Chateau Pichon Baron, Chateau Suduiraut in Sauternes and Chateau Petit Village in Pomerol.
